Dr Parth Shah is a Canberra-based ophthalmologist with specialist training in cataract surgery, strabismus (eye muscle) surgery, and paediatric ophthalmology. He provides both private and public specialist eye care to patients across the ACT and surrounding region.
Dr Shah completed his medical degree and ophthalmology training in Sydney before undertaking four advanced surgical fellowships across internationally recognised institutions in the United Kingdom and United States of America. This included subspecialty training at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr Shah holds an Adjunct Associate Professorship at the University of Canberra, contributing to ophthalmology education and research in the ACT region. He also holds a Clinical Senior Lecturer position at the University of Sydney.
Dr Shah relocated to Canberra in July 2022, bringing advanced subspecialist surgical skills to fill a significant gap in ACT specialist eye care. He performs surgery at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital and holds a consultant appointment at Canberra Hospital, where he supervises ophthalmology registrars and manages acute eye emergencies.
Dr Shah is committed to evidence-based practice and continues to publish research and present at national and international ophthalmology meetings. Through the Outback Eye Service, he provides specialist eye care to disadvantaged rural and remote communities across Australia.
